Revelation  4 : 1
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Fierce
Perspective on the News
Wednesday, October 27, 2010
Rebecca Droeger

As far along as we are on the Bible Prophecy timeline, you would think that I would not be surprised by the daily news showing how fierce the world is becoming.

By no means am I a fan of President Obama.  In fact, his actions, policies and life philosophy completely conflict with my own.  In most ways, Obama and his Administration stand against everything this country was founded upon and what I know to be truth.

With that said, never, in a million years, would I have imagined someone telling the President of the United States to “Shove it;” especially someone from the President’s own party.  But that’s exactly what Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio said regarding the snub for an endorsement for the race.

Apparently, Obama sided with Independent candidate Lincoln Chaffee because they were good buddies in the Senate.  Caprio did not appreciate the “non” endorsement from Obama, so Caprio said Obama could take his endorsement and “shove it.”

My mouth hit the floor.  I understand Obama is down in the polls and the Democrats are pulling every string they can to distance themselves from the current nightmare in Washington; but I still have a hard time swallowing the “shove it” comment.  It seems so childish, unprofessional; but more importantly, it shows the fierceness within the political world nowadays.

After Obama was first elected, the angels of darkness wept in the Democratic camp.  They thought he was an answer to their unholy prayers.  They thought that their progressive agenda was what America wanted since they were now the majority and they had the most liberal President in history in office.

It was a win-win situation.  If the Republican and Right-Wing objected to Obama’s ideals, the Liberal Left could accuse them of being racist because they didn’t agree with him.  The “old-stodgy white guy” way of doing things were a thing of the past.  Let’s “get on board” with Obama.

Now that his poll numbers are in the tank, the Democrats aren’t so eager to jump on that train anymore.  Not only are they distancing themselves from Obama, but their coming out and taking swings like Caprio.

It’s really quite astounding to watch it all unfold.  Watching snakes strike at each other brings to light why it is taking Satan so long to find his supreme candidate for the Antichrist.  Not only is the Holy Spirit restraining his efforts, but his minions can’t seem to work together long enough to form a formidable adversary.  It’s exactly as Jesus explained it:

Matthew 12:25-26 “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:  And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?”

The United States political world is almost completely without a soul.  Like Jack said, we all expect politicians to lie.  So, it then becomes a choice in which liar we like best.  For Christians, it becomes a choice of which lies were less offensive than the other side’s.

Most of the politicians are hoping the Independent “swing” voters are uniformed on their records, their constituency, or their past speeches.  They can’t argue the issues because they would alienate their financial support; so the vicious attack ads come out against their opponent.  Instead of talking about anything constructive, they’ll bring up some “scandal,” the opponent has been involved in.  Take your pick; we have money laundering, love affairs, misuse of campaign funds, bribes, and any other nefarious deed you can imagine.

Oh, and apparently, if you’re running for public office, you do not have to follow rules or have any sense of a moral compass.

For instance, Florida Gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink (D-FL) broke the rules during a televised debate with Rick Scott (R-FL) by receiving a test message.  During a commercial break, the make-up artists were busy touching up both candidates when Alex’s make-up artist showed her a cell phone. Rick Scott noticed the activity and asked the Debate official “So we can get notes?  We can have people in our workforce come and give us messages?”

The debate official said answered “no.”  Then Mr. Scott pointed out the deed to the official.

Of course, Sink said she did not realize she had a message (from her staffer) on her cell phone until the make-up artist showed her the cell phone.  Instead of admitting the error, she fired the staffer that sent her the text message.  How can someone like Alex Sink get away with firing someone else for her own incompetency?  I pray that the folks of Florida will not let her get away with that.

Then again, people still supported Hillary Clinton after she blatantly lied about being shot at when visiting Bosnia.  How can a political party support a candidate after video evidence showed her and her daughter calmly walking down a runway to be received by the foreign dignitaries?  Hillary said “I misspoke,” and the Democratic Party didn’t bat an eye; they just turned their head the other way and shoved it in the ground.

Sadly, we’ve only touched on a small portion of the fierceness in the political arena.  The fierceness amongst the rest of America and across the world makes the political world seem like child’s play in some aspects.  We’ll touch on the suicides resulting from bullying next week.

For now, just take comfort in that our King will be coming for us soon.  The birth pangs are becoming more intense and they’re happening more frequently.  It is extremely painful right now; and downright unbearable at times.

We have seen the effect of God withdrawing His Holy Spirit over time.  Now that it is almost time for His vessels to be withdrawn (or the baby to be born), the rapid decline of anything Holy has made us repeatedly check for the baby’s heart-beat and request an ultrasound.

What’s true has never changed in all of this time; but our reality is so much different than it was a couple of decades ago.

Remember to keep looking up.  Even though it’s extremely hard to watch our fellow mankind be fierce to one another, Paul gave it as one of the signs of or Lord’s soon coming return:

Timothy 3:2-5 “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
