The Dark Tower
Prophecy - Signs
Wednesday, October 23, 2013
Pete Garcia

Over the last 2,000 years, we’ve seen some pretty awful stuff happen.  We’ve had, the Holocaust, the Killing Fields, Jonestown, abortion, bath-salt cannibal attacks, parents killing their children, children killing their parents, Islamic terrorism, and so on.

There has been cataclysmic events of nature in earthquakes, tsunamis, fires, floods and tornadoes increasing in both intensity and frequency.  We’ve had manmade and natural pestilences, famines and plagues.  We’ve had wars and rumors of wars, with enough bloodshed that our last century alone was bloodier than the previous twenty centuries combined.  We’ve seen the rise and proliferation of cults and false religions throughout the world.

Yet to date, God has not intervened...well, not directly anyway.

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.  Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” (Genesis 11:5-7 NKJV)

So what happened at the Tower of Babel that required God’s direct intervention?  We know that according to Scriptures, God’s direct intervention in the Old Testament was limited to certain mile markers in man’s history, such as; creation, the creation and goings-on with Israel, and the coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ, who is God, come in flesh.

The only times God intervened with Gentiles as it were, was when they had either become exceedingly wicked (the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah), or where the Gentile nations came against Israel (Gog/Magog War, Armageddon).

But in all those instances, the Bible is clear on the why of the intervention.  But the Scriptures remain relatively elusive as to the why He intervened personally at Babel.  All we know is that they gathered at the plain of Shinar, and built a tower whose height was towards the heavens, and that they would use this place to make a name for themselves.  Considering all the stuff we had in our last century, it doesn’t seem so bad does it?  So to answer that, we must back up a chapter.

Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.” And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (that is the principal city).  (Genesis 10:8-12)

From the time leading up to Babel, the descendants of Ham, Shem, and Japheth were flourishing, but had stopped spreading out over the face of the earth as they had been commanded too. Nimrod was the son of Cush, the grandson of Ham, and the great-grandson of Noah who also lived around the time of Abraham’s birth through his early adulthood.  As tradition tells us his father Terah, was a servant to Nimrod. The stories vary as to whether Nimrod was a wicked ruler, or whether he actually acquired the skins God gave Adam and Eve after the fall and with these skins obtained supernatural strength.  What we are clear on is that he was a busy man, and began to rebel against God in the form of establishing a kingdom in opposition to God.  The tower was his ‘Magnus Opus’, and it represented a man shaking his fist at God.

The tower’s width, build, and height were designed to withstand another flood, (in case God ever changed His mind).  The pitch was used here to seal the bricks together, or make them water proof, as was the case when Noah used pitch for building the ark.  His government, like all governments, began to replace the role of God, with themselves.

As the name Pluto has the very same meaning as Saturn, "The hidden one," so, whatever other aspect this name had, as applied to the father of the gods, it is to Satan, the Hidden Lord of hell, ultimately that all came at last to be traced back; for the different myths about Saturn, when carefully examined, show that he was at once the Devil, the father of all sin and idolatry, who hid himself under the disguise of the serpent,--and Adam, who hid himself among the trees of the garden,--and Noah, who lay hid for a whole year in the ark,--and Nimrod, who was hid in the secrecy of the Babylonian Mysteries. It was to glorify Nimrod that the whole Chaldean system of iniquity was formed. (The Two Babylon’s)

There is conflicting stories on how exactly Nimrod died, but his wife capitalized on his death.  With Nimrod’s death, we have the formation of the world’s first ‘mother-son’ worship as Alexander Hislop lays out in his book, The Two Babylon’s.  This cultic, or some would consider occult worship, was Satan’s attempt through Nimrod’s wife Semiramis, to warp and reshape the first prophecy of the Bible found in Genesis 3:15

"And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."

Satan realizes that through the race of man, God will bring forth his (Satan’s) destroyer.  So he first attempts to corrupt the line of man through angel-human copulation as mentioned in Genesis 6.  Since those angels were cast into the abyss, and their offspring (the Nephilim) were destroyed in the flood, God then put a limitation on what Satan could do as we see in Satan’s dealing with Job who also existed around that same time.  So it would appear that Satan was limited to influencing and shaping what men believed, with the likes of Nimrod and Semiramis.

"Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grandson of Ham, the son of Noah, a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it were through his means they were happy, but to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power. He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to reach. And that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers.

Now the multitude were very ready to follow the determination of Nimrod, and to esteem it a piece of cowardice to submit to God; and they built a tower, neither sparing any pains, nor being in any degree negligent about the work: and, by reason of the multitude of hands employed in it, it grew very high, sooner than anyone could expect; but the thickness of it was so great, and it was so strongly built, that thereby its great height seemed, upon the view, to be less than it really was. It was built of burnt brick, cemented together with mortar, made of bitumen, that it might not be liable to admit water. When God saw that they acted so madly, he did not resolve to destroy them utterly, since they were not grown wiser by the destruction of the former sinners; but he caused a tumult among them, by producing in them diverse languages, and causing that, through the multitude of those languages, they should not be able to understand one another. The place wherein they built the tower is now called Babylon, because of the confusion of that language which they readily understood before; for the Hebrews mean by the word Babel, confusion…"  (Josephus: Antiquity of the Jews, Chapter 4)

As was the case before the flood, mankind’s first and biggest problem, was that they were united as one race.  The old saying goes that “individuals aren’t stupid, but crowds are”.

Groups like to be led, whether that leader is military, religious, or political.  People want to cling to something tangible, like the Israelites begging God for a king.  God knew that putting the power into one man’s hand was too much, so He divided mankind up.  We know that such another man like Nimrod has been foretold to be coming one day.  Like Nimrod who built up many kingdoms, and tried to build his massive tower to thwart God’s judgment, the man of lawlessness will come and…

“…He shall regard neither the God of his father’s nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.  Daniel 11:37-38

Assessment

It is to the division of mankind that Satan is like the Hindu god Kali, who possesses four arms and causes wanton death and destruction.  Satan is constantly juggling and manipulating multiple options that all ultimately serve his own ends.  By using division as a tool, he has used this to drive us towards uniting the world back under one leader again.  But how do you unite a divisive people God separated?

You create strife and misery.  You rack the world with famine and pestilence.  You move men and nations to kill each other.  You corrupt and corrode anything that is good.  After enough time, men will come to the decision (as if they came up with this on their own) that if they worked together, they could end all these horrible tragedies by uniting as one.

Man’s attempt at globalization includes: the Vatican, the Illuminati, Free-Masonry, the League of Nations, the United Nations, the Tri-Lateral Commission, Bilderberg’s, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Council of Foreign Relations, etc.  Like Nimrod at Babel, Satan wants mankind united under one man, his man.  If Nimrod’s action was as such that it warranted God’s attention, imagine a “Nimrod” who is personally indwelt by Satan himself.

"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders." (2 Thessalonians 2:9)

Closure

God did not separate mankind to keep them forever in division against each other.  He did so until the time was right to reunite them under the right man, that man being Jesus Christ.  Whereas God brought judgment to Babel through confusing the tongues, God united believers into one body, through the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  The Holy Spirit who descended upon those believers that day as ‘tongues of fire’ is uniting the Church into a unified body of Christ regardless of creed, ethnicity, or denomination.

It may not appear that way to us, because we see Christianity divided over doctrine, dogma, denomination and creed more today, than we probably ever have.  But that is because we are looking at it from our perspective.  God only sees one church, and that is the Church He is building.   Even at mans greatest with Satan’s help, they could only build a dark tower covered with slime and mud.  But God, through Jesus Christ, is building an eternal Kingdom, that will never end…

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”  Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”  (Matthew 16:15-20)
