The Abraham Connection
Terror - Islam
Thursday, October 24, 2013
J.L. Robb

Anyone who has read any of my political rants about the current wave of terrorism against the United States know that I lay the blame directly in the lap of former President Carter and his immense failure in the ''Persian Situation'' of 1979.

Like in Egypt two years ago, we (U.S.) turned our back on an ally in 1979 and helped usher in the Islamic Revolution in Iran, a country that kidnapped 52 Americans and held them 444 days. The kidnap victims were called “hostages” by the media, and the hostages were threatened with death every day. It seemed to me at the time that the President should have learned from history, a lesson from only 7 years earlier.

In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, a group of Palestinian Islamists named Black September kidnapped the Israeli athletes, and 11 athletes and coaches were murdered. If you lived back in 1979, you could watch it all unfold on live TV. It was no secret.

“the terrorists had killed 11 Israeli athletes and coaches and 1 West German police officer. Five of the eight members of Black September were killed by police officers during a failed rescue attempt. The three surviving terrorists were captured, but later released by West Germany following the hijacking by Black September of a Lufthansa airliner.”

Three years earlier, in 1976 there was the Entebbe terrorism incident.

“Israeli commandos have rescued 100 hostages, mostly Israelis or Jews, held by pro-Palestinian hijackers at Entebbe airport in Uganda.”

Of course, most who actually come out in the sunlight know that “pro-Palestinian terrorists” are not Presbyterians. So why don’t we, the West, learn from history?

Abraham was a man chosen directly by God. At the time, Abraham was called Abram; and God was called Yahweh. Actually it was YHWH but vowels were added to make it pronounceable. Many Jews even today don’t spell out God, instead writing G_d because of the unpronounceability of His name. I’m not sure if unpronounceability is a word, but writers have a lot of leeway. You know what I mean.

From Abraham’s huge mistake, sleeping with his wife’s slave girl from Egypt, Hagar and Abraham had a baby named Ishmael who became the Father of the Islamic religion. Ishmael’s descendants became the Arabs. Most know the Abraham-Hagar story, but what about Keturah?

From Genesis 25:1-4  NIV:

Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.

When Abraham’s wife Sarah died, he was 137 years old. Two years later he married Keturah, another concubine and apparently loved her a lot. They had 6 sons; six sons after 139 years old. Isn’t God amazing? And Abraham took Hagar at age 86 because he was worried about producing. No man-made pharmaceuticals were needed for this old man!

Abraham was not a womanizer. He married Sarah who he loved, then at Sarah’s insistence married her concubine, Hagar the Egyptian, just to help God’s plan out a little. How different the world would be had he not done that.

Now, Abraham’s 6 youngest sons from Keturah fulfilled the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah’s prediction and migrated to the south and east. They were known as the nations that mistreated Israel, and Arabia is specifically mentioned. You can read the whole story here: Jeremiah

“… all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who live in the wilderness;” Jeremiah 25:24 NIV

The Quran mentions one of Keturah’s sons, Midian in Surah 11:95 and indicates the Midianites simply vanished, the victims of an apparent disaster. Midian is the most mentioned of the 6 sons in the Bible and the Quran.

Here’s the point:

Abraham had two lines of descendancy. One line was the descendants through his wife Sarah and Isaac, their son. This is the line that led to the Israelis through Isaac’s son, Jacob. The other line of descendancy was through his wives Hagar and Keturah and their sons, all who became the future Islamic religion. The descendants of Ishmael and the other sons of Abraham’s concubines had a common hatred of the Israelis, their half-brothers. That hatred remains today.

According to the Bible, God’s inheritance went through Abraham’s son to he and Sarah, Isaac and Isaac’s son, Jacob. There is no mention of God’s inheritance being passed down through Abraham, Ishmael and Esau. That lineage was not assigned to God until about 2,500 years later. That’s when the descendants of Abraham’s mistaken choices led us into a future world of jealous religious rage and Islamic fanaticism.

It was 2,500 years later that Ishmael’s descendant, Muhammed, still living in the deserts to the east of Israel, as predicted, decided to stop worshipping Allah the moon god and start worshipping Allah, Abraham’s God. Islam renamed God from Yahweh (Jehovah) to Allah, who just a few years earlier was the Arab moon god. You can note the moon in most Islamic symbols. Of course, Islamists claim they have no symbols and are not a religion.

Yes, Islam is a religion; and thanks to President Carter and the United Nations, the religion is thriving. But mostly, it’s because of Abraham’s mistakes. He proved that he was only human.

So will we learn from history? The Bible says this about the future:

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.” Matthew 24: 36-41  NIV

Probably not. It seems it is natural for man not to learn from history. Walid Shoebat, a Muslim extremist who converted to Christianity several years ago can shed a lot of light on the “peaceful religion.”

And no, I don’t rant. I call it passion.
