Anti-Semitism had been virulent in Germany even before World War I. Germany’s subsequent defeat only served to exacerbate it.

The stage was already set for the “Jewish-led-stab-in-the-back” betrayal theory that brought Hitler to power. ~Jewishhistory.org

There has been much anti-Semitism in the history of Christianity; first THE church and later, the spinoffs. According to dictionary.com, anti-Semitism is defined as a noun meaning discrimination against or prejudice or hostility toward Jews.

If that definition is true, the first Christians who expressed anti-Semitism to Jews were Jews. One hundred percent of the first Christians, though that term didn’t come into being until about 30 years after Jesus’ execution, were Jews, as was Jesus.

So why did the Jews hate the Jews, 2,000 years ago? The answer is complex, yet simple. The Jews who believed that Jesus was the “one” foretold to come and be their savior, lived in fear for their lives and their family’s lives because of the majority of Jews who did not hold that belief, primarily fueled by the rabbis who felt threatened for some reason… like the huge crowds following Jesus. Power is difficult to part with, in religion and politics and probably life in general.

Thus began the history of Christianity during Paul’s time, with non-Christian Jews, like Paul, killing and persecuting Christian Jews, like the twelve disciples who were all murdered/martyred except John, the apostle who “Jesus loved.”

There are still plenty of Christian Jews today, Messianic Jews who are still threatened and assaulted by non-Messianic Jews who claim one can’t be a Jew and believe in Jesus, a Jew. Go figger.

Some things never change, and even the holocaust could not change that line of thought. It seems to me that there were probably a lot of Jews in the camps at Auschwitz who were praying zealously for the first time in their lives, asking the Almighty… “Whatever we have done, please forgive us.” This persecution, this anti-Semitism, was predicted by the Jewish prophets hundreds of years earlier.

"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.” ~Jesus (Matthew 24:9 NIV)

Who was Jesus talking too when He said this?

He was talking to His Jewish brethren, and the message had a dual meaning: one for the Jews who believed He was who He said He was, the followers; one for the Jews who did not believe Jesus was the one who was foretold to come. Folk of that mindset are still waiting, 2,000 years later. Think of the joy they could know if they only knew.

Be patient, He will be back soon.

Jump ahead to 1938 and World War II.

By this time, the general attitude of most Christians (there were very few Jewish believers at that time because of fear) had mellowed as they began to absorb the true meaning of Genesis 12:3.

As Jews were being led to the gas chambers of Auschwitz, sometimes by other Jews, we saw anti-Semitism as the world has never seen, until now.

So who was Rudolf Vrba?

The Christians could not save all the Jews from their demise but many tried: Corrie ten Boom, Oskar Schindler and Feng-Shan Ho, some more religious than others. There were at least four who managed to escape Auschwitz. Rudolf Vrba was one of them.

Rudolf Vrba and his friend Alfréd Wetzler managed somehow to escape sure death by gas, gunfire, fire or just thrown in a trench and buried alive. Bullets were expensive.

When they escaped, these blessed men did not go into hiding. Instead they told the world what was going on inside Auschwitz, giving the first descriptions of the gas chambers. Unfortunately the world didn’t listen soon enough, it was only Jews. Many who escaped with forged visas, printed underground by Christians, were turned away by the countries the fake passports would bring them too, including America.

One of my most favorite authors is Joel C. Rosenberg. He appears internationally, was on Fox News last night with Greta and is an expert in what is really happening in the Middle East and the world in general. I am glad that he has written a book, The Auschwitz Escape; and it is now available for order. Not only does Joel discuss the heroes who managed to escape the evil of Auschwitz, but also the small French village of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon. It’s all about the Middle East when you get right down to it.

That escape was 70 years ago.

Scientists say man evolved, but is the depravity of man really evolution? Seems more like devolution to me. Things are supposed to get better with evolution, but the Great Ape doesn’t invent gas chambers in which to kill other apes. Chimpanzees don’t build guillotines and hangman’s nooses to get rid of their peers, or devise torture chambers.

Anti-Semitism is supernatural in itself, and I hate to think how many would have been killed had good people not intervened at the risk of their own lives.

I mentioned earlier that the evil of Hitler was the greatest show of anti-Semitism until now. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. Twenty percent believe the Jews should be killed, converted or enslaved, as in Hitler. They don’t think much more of Christians and less extreme Muslims. That’s 300,000,000 who are about as anti-Semitic as anyone could be.

Maybe one day they will get the meaning of Genesis 12:3 and realize that God was not talking about them.

Probably not.
