The Real Muslim Solution
Terror - Islam
Friday, January 23, 2015
Alf Cengia

If you're anything like me your feathers may have been slightly ruffled by some of the post-Charlie Hebdo comments made by U.S. President Obama. He advised Europeans that they had better find better ways to assimilate their Muslim minority populations as they respond to the extremist attacks in Paris.

Mr. Obama rambled on at length:

"It’s important for Europe not to simply respond with a hammer and law enforcement and military approaches to these problems. There also has to be a recognition that the stronger the ties of a North African...of a French man of North African descent to French values, the French Republic, a sense of opportunity, that’s going to be as important, if not more important, in, over time, solving this problem, and I think there’s a recognition, across Europe, and it’s important we don’t lose that."

While Obama presumed British Prime Minister David Cameron would unequivocally support his statements, the latter didn't quite share the same sentiments:

"...You can have, tragically, people who have had all the advantages of integration, all the economic opportunities our countries can offer, who still get seduced by this poisonous, radical death cult of a narrative, we’ve seen in recent weeks people who’ve gone to fight in Syria, they threaten us here back at home, who’ve had every opportunity and every advantage in life in terms of integration."

As an expatriate Australian, I somewhat sympathize with David Cameron's observations. I doubt one can find a more politically correct, multi-cultural, diversity-driven society than the current Australian model.

When my parents migrated to Australia from Italy in the late fifties, they didn't experience the immediate benefits of the later mandatory sensitivity and cultural diversity training provided by Human Resources in work forces and schools. That situation did not mean the authorities were constantly on the alert for Greek, Italian or Asian migrants violently reacting to racial and religious stigma.

Things have changed since then. Racial, gender and religious slurs (especially towards Islam) are now a crime. In one Australian case, two Christian pastors were faced with vilification charges for allegedly mocking Islam when they quoted passages from the Qur'an. Yet for all their inclusive efforts, Australians have been confronted with home-grown Islamic terrorist threats.

The sharp uptake of Muslims in Europe has seen a corresponding increase in violence by Muslims, much of it directed at Jews. Back in 2012 Gatestone Institute noted that Jew Hunting Season was open in France. It noted:

'But as anti-Semitic crimes committed in France do not come from the extreme-right, but mostly from the Muslim community, these organizations remain blindly silent; for them, Muslims are "victims of racism" and therefore cannot be racist.'

Most notably, the Jewish response has not been to reciprocate with violence. Instead, the oppression of Jews has seen a significant increase in aliya. There is something drastically wrong with the simplistic, politically-correct excuse for Islamist violence.

Europe faces a problem which cannot be solved by better efforts aimed at people who refuse to integrate. Moreover, as time passes, it will experience a growth in Right-Wing extremist responses. Unhappily, this will likely exacerbate problems for the Jewish communities.

The only solution is Jesus Christ.

In Reasoning from the Scriptures with Muslims, Ron Rhodes points out that in Islam there is no guarantee of salvation (p 235). In Islam there is no Atonement: Allah can arbitrarily forgive or condemn whoever he wants. Rhodes cites Sura 23:102-3:

"In the day of judgment, they whose balances shall be heavy with good works, shall be happy; but they, whose balances shall be light, are those who shall lose their souls, and shall remain in hell forever."

The best chance a Muslim has is copying Muhammad's lifestyle. The one exception is that anyone who dies in service to Allah (whether they are good or evil) is assured a place in paradise (p 236).  Little wonder, then, that so many Muslims who are steeped in the Qur'an and Hadiths choose the violent gateway into paradise.

Also, little wonder that there so many examples of Muslims who finally come to Christ and have that immense burden lifted from their shoulders! Many Muslims are hungry for the gospel.

Sadly, preaching the gospel of the Cross is a no-go zone for this politically correct and religiously plural world. It's a tragedy that Christianity is being virtually wiped out in the Middle East, while its voice has been extinguished in the West.

The worldly sanctioned "gospel" is the social justice version. This is the version most often preached by popular preachers because it seems outwardly kindlier and doesn't dwell on sin. In short, it is insipidly lacking in Christ's Atonement, and it is a broad gateway to hell.

What can Christians do?

We can pray for Muslims. Those of us who are attuned to eschatology know what the final outcome will be. That doesn't mean we cannot pray for the salvation of Muslims now, and especially for those who minister to them.

In The Cross in the Shadow of the Crescent (p 212), Erwin Lutzer notes the example of an English Christian leader. He and a group of other Christians met every week for two years to pray for the Muslim community. They persisted even though they apparently received no results. Yet eventually, through prayer and love, 75 Muslims came to accept Jesus Christ as their savior.

Mr. Obama is dead wrong about integration as the solution. The only answer is Jesus Christ.

Let us pray for the Muslims and show our Christian love to them.
