If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Ding Dong, The Witness Is Dead
Prophecy - Signs
Thursday, November 05, 2015
J.L.Robb

Last week I discussed the rise and the demise of the Two Witnesses who are to appear in Jerusalem in the last days. Hated and despised by all because of the devastation they bring on Earth, the people of the world rejoice when word comes of their deaths and give one another gifts.

The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth. ~ Revelation 11:10 NIV

However, three-and-a-half days after their murder, their bodies suddenly come back to life, a loud voice from Heaven calls them to “come up here” and they do. As they disappear into the air on their rise to Heaven, the rejoicers quickly change their tunes and fear sets in.

But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. ~ Revelation 11:11-12 NIV

Apparently God is not too happy with the new Jerusalem in the last days.

Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified. ~ Revelation 11:8 NIV

Referring to Jerusalem as Sodom is not a compliment. It seems I hear almost daily how much God loves Israel and his Chosen and that His protective hand is over them at all times. However, the Bible indicates otherwise.

The Bible is full of earthquakes, and Revelation is no exception. The earthquake that follows the resurrection of the Two Witnesses is major, but not as major as the one to follow. The earthquake destroys a tenth of Jerusalem and kills 7,000 people. For the unbelievers that deny the Bible’s specificity, this is pretty specific.

At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. ~ Revelation 11:13 NIV

A severe earthquake strikes the land and 10% of the buildings collapse. The death of 7,000 is low when compared with other severe earthquakes today, about 1% of Jerusalem’s current population.

It appears that God is angry with Israel, refers to her capital as Sodom and Egypt and wipes out a significant part of the population. So what happens next?

The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon. ~ Revelation 11:14 NIV

Does not sound too good.

As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” ~ Revelation 8:13 NIV

The third woe is revealed by the seventh and final trumpet in John’s vision and is the final act in God’s fabulous play that leads up to the Finale when God establishes the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. What a great and wonderful place it will be. But first there is the third woe.

The third woe contains the seven bowls of God’s wrath. The good news is, if you have not decided to worship this antichrist figure who appears at this future time, that everyone loves and adores, these seven bowls will not have a direct affect. Jesus had this to say about these coming days:

If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.Matthew 24:22 NIV

Many, many believers avoid this story in Revelation as though they believe it really is not going to happen. They claim that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, except for Revelation, maybe. Revelation 16 is not a warm and fuzzy, feel-good story, but it is God’s story nonetheless. That means it will happen.

Revelation 16 is not for the queasy.

Bowl 1:

The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.

There have been plagues throughout history that caused festering sores, and now there seems to be more than ever. We have the brain eating amoeba, the MRSA and MERS virus, AIDS. The Two Witnesses called down plagues on the world before they were killed, and this is exactly what is continuing to happen with Bowl 1. Small pox and Bubonic Plague certainly come to mind.

Bowl 2:

The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.

No one can be clear on how this will happen, but it will not be a good thing for those living. The blood of a dead person is not liquid but solid. If the blood is solid and mixes with water, it will be like a thick gravy. And of course, all sea life would perish.

Bowl 3:

The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.

Once the oceans have been turned to a blood-infused mix, killing all sea life, both plant and animal, the fresh water supplies will become undrinkable. How much bottled water would one need to take a single bath? Readers of Revelation may consider this wrath rather severe, but God has his reasons as is described:

“You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.”

Bowl 4:

The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.

Al Gore gets a lot of credit for his global warming theory, but it was God’s idea first.

Bowl 5:

The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.

Can you imagine living in a world of complete darkness, no sun… no moon… no stars… no Bics? Until the fourth day of Creation there was only light when God was around.

Bowl 6:

Isn’t it interesting that the Bible talked about the Euphrates River 3,500 years ago when Moses wrote Genesis? And here it is again in the last book of the Bible. It’s importance is significant.

The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.

The Kings of the East could very well describe the leaders of Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim population, the leader of Russia, the leader of China and the leader of India. It would take all these nations to field an army of 200 million soldiers.

The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.

That would be two hundred million troops, and the mighty Euphrates is dried up so they can get across. Apparently by this time all the bridges have been blown up.

Bowl 7:

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

This earthquake that follows the one after the Two Witnesses are resurrected is vividly described in these verses, and it will be remarkable. The entire earth will shake.

The Two Witnesses of Revelation 11 usher in the days of God’s wrath and is described as a “test” for those who are living at the time. For those, the test will be difficult.

The Two Witnesses, the 5th book in the The End Series is now available for pre-order.
