River of Time
July 19, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
One of the less contemplated (and less appreciated) attributes of God is His position as the 'real' Time Lord. He invented time. (As the fourth dimension of physical space, it didn’t exist until He created the universe.)  And more often than you might think, His miracles are more a supernatural command of time than of the physical world.  Exhibit A: The crossing of the Jordan River.
Are You Ready?
July 11, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Over the vast expanse of man’s time spent shuffling around on this little blue rock, two constants have ever been his companion; misery and tragedy.  Of course, this was not how it was intended to be, but man, given the choice, chose to go his own way.
The Sinner in the Saint
July 04, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
One of the greatest paradoxical mysteries in all of the known universe, is that of the mystery of Christ in the believer.  How can an all holy, all righteous, divine Being who is Creator and will not tolerate even the tiniest infraction of His divine law…dwell, inside His fallen, sinful, creation?  Certainly, the Apostle Paul wrestled with the significance of this concept and was given the understanding to explain for our benefit.  He says;
On Idolizing Scripture
June 24, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Friends once referred me to a popular blogger-writer. He was someone who thought outside the box and even wrote a book on the rapture based on his innovative perspectives. I found some of his material intriguing (though unconvincing) at the time.
If I Were The Devil
June 23, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Does the devil exist? Is his name Satan or Lucifer? He is known by many names in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments.
A Saint by any Other Name
June 21, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
The account of Daniel and his three friends-- captured and taken to Babylon as slaves is a great example of faith and a testimony to perseverance in the face of difficulty.  It is also an account that is inarguably historically true. Confirmed straight from the horse’s mouth.
Secrets of the Third Commandment
June 14, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
God himself, through Moses,  handed down  ten main commandments.  Keep God first, don’t worship  things,  don’t take the name of God in vain, keep the Sabbath, honor your parents, don’t commit murder or adultery, and don’t steal, lie, or covet stuff that isn’t yours.  One is habitually ignored, even by believers.  And that one goes way deeper than we think.
Remembering MacGyver
June 03, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
No, this isn't about remembering MacGyver - the popular TV series which starred Richard Dean Anderson. MacGyver was my German Shepherd Dog.
Grace, Freely
May 31, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Grace, freely. The notion of God’s grace supplying salvation through faith is accused by some of being unfair. What about the primitive tribes in Africa and South America? What about the people who haven’t heard? Well… what about the promises of God?  Like Jeremiah 29:13, for example; "you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart".
The Parable of the Kingdom
May 02, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Once upon a time, there was a kingdom who served as a beacon of freedom and light in a world dark with injustice.  It was a newer kingdom, but unlike any that had ever come before it.
What’s in a Name?
April 26, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Ever noticed how often God changed people’s names? Abraham and Sarai (both of whom acquired a “Heh”, when God changed their names, “Heh” being the Hebrew letter that represented the Holy Spirit.).  Jacob, who became Israel, meaning “ Prince of God” . Peter, who went from Petros (pebble) to Petra (boulder). Conclusion: names matter. They carry a spiritual promise. Apparently from Adam on.
The Best-Selling Book in the World
April 21, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
In the world of eBooks and electronic readers, it is more difficult to keep up with the exact number of books printed/emailed and read. The Holy Bible is purported to be the greatest selling book of all time, but is it? Here are a few examples:
Devil or Angel
April 05, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Arber Tasimi was your basic carefree collegiate until targeted in two completely random attacks in just a few weeks. Then he didn’t leave his house for months. When he did, it was to study the basic nature of humankind using the “raw materials”. Meaning babies. Before societal morals were introduced. His findings? well…downright Biblical.
Living on a Prayer
March 29, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
An old girl scout song goes: “God he thought he’d make a man, took a little water, took a little sand, put him in a garden fair, thought he’d be most happy there. But round a tree Old Satan slunk, and at Miss Eve his eye he wunk…." We all know how that ended. But it’s worse than we thought.
Love in the Time of Cholera
March 22, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Of all the moments in human history in which the continued existence of God’s chosen people has been in peril (admittedly, there are lots of them, and still more to come) the siege of Jerusalem by the Assyrian potentate Sennacherib certainly ranks right up there. Yep. Near the top of the list in the magnitude of Jerusalem’s danger. And in the method of its deliverance.
In the Beginning: Part Two
March 10, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." ~Jesus
March 08, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
An internet blog called the “Skeptics Report”, labels the Ice Age as one of the things that creationists hate, because, among other reasons,  It’s never mentioned in the Bible. "Skeptic” goes on to say, “How could the “True History of the World” miss that?” Well…the true history of the world didn’t. Because it doesn’t end with Genesis.
Lay Me Down
March 01, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Last August, I shared personally about the difficulty of being a believer seemingly stuck in a situation I couldn’t change, and that God seemed to have no intention of changing either, no matter how much weeping, wailing, and fervent prayer ensued.  (See “God from the Backside”)  I’m here to report that God is faithful. And, as I guess we should have anticipated, in surprising ways.
Why I Write For God
February 25, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
I get asked about this routinely, maybe from friends and always in an interview.
Great Balls of Fire
January 28, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
From time-to-time I see reports that Noah’s Ark has been found, again or that the fabled cities of Sodom and Gomorrah have been discovered. Something always seems to come along and debunk some of these stories, yet archeological finds of the future often undebunk them.
Crocodile Rock
January 19, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
Joseph Campbell, the “father of comparative mythology”, considered the Scriptures themselves mythology, once saying that the Biblical story of Joseph should not be considered, in any way, shape, or form, historical. Sorry, Joe, but that dog won’t hunt. In fact, there’s more evidence for the Biblical Joseph than there is for you.
This Rebellious Planet
January 08, 2016 - Witnessing Tools
I confess to being an enthusiast of nearly anything C. S. Lewis wrote. In fact, I still love reading his Chronicles of Narnia, though they were written for children. That probably says something about me.
The Greatest Gift of All
December 24, 2015 - Witnessing Tools
Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament and was written around 400 BC. The book is brief, only four chapters; and Malachi warns the people of Judah, his Jewish brethren, that they had strayed far away from God, yet again, chasing after the gods and idols of foreigners. This seems to have been habitual throughout much of Israel’s history.
Casus Belli
December 21, 2015 - Witnessing Tools
Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if you will worship before me, all will be Yours.”  Luke 4:4-7
The Cure for a Heart Murmur
December 01, 2015 - Witnessing Tools
Thursday at the Wippel house included the obligatory turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, dressing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, football and Black Friday shopping. Plus we gave thanks. All I am saying is that those pilgrims knew what they were doing. But not with the repast. With the reasons behind it.
