The Consequences Of Dividing Israel

According to an article in Israel Today, when President Bush met with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert last week, he had some surprisingly sage advice for the outgoing leader. He advised Olmert not to concede the Golan Heights for nothing and not to trust Syrian President Bashar Assad. While Olmert had no reply, Israeli commentators speculate that the Prime Minister desires to “score a major diplomatic victory before leaving office”. Interestingly enough, Olmert’s predecessor, Ariel Sharon, suffered a massive stroke after conceding the Gaza strip.

Meanwhile over in Europe, according to Haaretz it seems that there’s a document in the making that is designed to put further pressure on Israel to concede control over more areas of Jerusalem, stop Jewish settlement and promote the Two State agenda:

Israeli officials are deeply concerned over an internal European Union document outlining the EU’s plans for advancing an Israeli-Palestinian deal in 2009. Inter alia, it calls for increased pressure on Israel to reopen Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem, including Orient House, which formerly served as the Palestinian Authority’s headquarters in the city.

The document, a copy of which was obtained by Haaretz, was written by the French Foreign Ministry, as France currently occupies the EU’s rotating presidency.

Here is some sage advice - those who would meddle with the apple of God’s eye would do well to consider the following Biblical verses:

Isa 34:8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, A year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Joel 3:2 I will also gather all nations and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will fight with them there for My people and for My inheritance Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided My land.
