The Bacon Is On The Way
I live in Illinois, and Chicago is a great town (except if you have to drive thru it - as Jack will attest to) and when I see articles like the one in the Chicago Tribune like this one I just have to shake my head and sigh. The first line sums it up rather nicely:
If Illinois were a country, it would be Iceland.
The difference is that we here in Illinois know that if we talk in opposition too much or too loudly, the machine here will find you and help you understand the error of your ways. Besides the article is right on target by pointing out that that the financial mess that the state is in is boring and old hat;
Hey, Democrats, these are your people, the ones you supposedly care the most about. Hey, Democrats, the people running the state are yours too. But you keep putting them back into office year after year, despite their incompetence, petty quarreling and whatever else occupies their wee minds.
I’m sure it’s just as bad everywhere else (except Alaska I hear), but in Illinois it is an art form.
Being one of the 14 Republicans left in the state even I, in my deluded state can recognize that our state troubles are over. With Obama in office he will make his home state a bastion and showpiece of his liberal works and policies no matter how much it costs you.
Obama’s Birth Certificate a Fake?
by Jack Kinsella
According to a report by the Israel Insider, “it is now a certainty that the birth certificate claimed by the Barack Obama campaign as authentic is a Photoshopped fake.”
The Insider claims that a ’senior spokesman’ for the Hawaii Department of Health examined the purported birth certificate and says that there are a number of features embedded in a genuine birth certificate that Obama’s posted version clearly lacked.
The image became increasingly suspect with Israel Insider’s revelation that variations of the certificate image were posted on the Photobucket image aggregation website — including one listing the location of Obama’s birth as Antarctica, one with the certificate supposedly issued by the government of North Korea, and another including a purported photo of baby Barack — one of which has a “photo taken” time-stamp just two minutes before the article and accompanying image was posted on the left-wing Daily Kos blog.
Some of these oddities surfaced in Israel Insider’s previous article on the subject, but new comparative documentary evidence presented below, and official verification obtained by Israel Insider from a senior Hawaiian official, provides the strongest confirmation yet.
Oh, No! We’re Winning War, CIA Says
Bad news for the Democrats. Even the Washington Post is admitting that al-Qaeda is losing its war against the United States:
Less than a year after his agency warned of new threats from a resurgent al-Qaeda, CIA Director Michael V. Hayden now portrays the terrorist movement as essentially defeated in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and on the defensive throughout much of the rest of the world, including in its presumed haven along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
In a strikingly upbeat assessment, the CIA chief cited major gains against al-Qaeda’s allies in the Middle East and an increasingly successful campaign to destabilize the group’s core leadership.
While cautioning that al-Qaeda remains a serious threat, Hayden said Osama bin Laden is losing the battle for hearts and minds in the Islamic world and has largely forfeited his ability to exploit the Iraq war to recruit adherents.”
“Largely,” but not completely. Osama’s task is to convince his followers that the United States is an evil, Satanic entity that deserves to have destruction visited upon it as a matter of religious duty. So Osama can still use clips from Democratic candidates, or taped sermons by Reverend Jeremiah Wright, or a copy of Scott McClellan’s book to help him make his case to new recruits.
Perhaps that is one reason that terrorism expert Bruce Hoffman is skeptical: “al Qaeda’s obituary has been written far too often in the past few years for anyone to declare victory,” he told the WP. “I agree that there has been progress. But we’re indisputably up against a very resilient and implacable enemy.”
(It’s hard to be sure if the ‘resilient and implacable enemy’ Hoffman is speaking of here is Osama bin Laden, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton or Scott McClellan. All of them seem quite resilient to me.)
The WP wasn’t willing to concede the point, but it did quote Hayden saying we’re winning in Iraq without following up with a paragraph disputing the contention. Maybe its true, after all.
But don’t tell the Democrats. They’ll just produce a new list of “Reasons For Jihad” talking points. Better to just win the war and tell them later.
Dollar Up, Joblessness Down . . . Oh No!
The Democrats, having failed to convince America that the best course of action in Iraq is surrendering to the terrorists, got even more bad news when April’s employment figures shows the jobless rate dropped 0.1% instead of increasing 0.2% as forecast. Read the rest of this entry »
