Jewish Leaders Blast the ‘New Hillary’

Noted CBS News, (of all sources)

In a swift about face from her views as New York’s senator, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now hammering Israel over its treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.

As First Lady, Clinton raised eyebrows when she kissed Suha Arafat.

On Thursday, as Secretary of State she had yet another about face in the form of angry messages demanding Israel speed up aid to Gaza. Jewish leaders are furious.

“I am very surprised, frankly, at this statement from the United States government and from the secretary of state,” said Mortimer Zuckerman, publisher of the New York Daily News and member of the NYC Jewish Community Relations Council.

“I liked her a lot more as a senator from New York,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, said. “Now, I wonder as I used to wonder who the real Hillary Clinton is.”

Clinton’s decision to hammer Israel comes as the Clintons and President Barack Obama are planning to give the Palestinians $900 million toward the rebuilding of Gaza in the wake of the Israeli offensive that was sparked by Hamas rocket fire.

Apparently,  the Obama administration’s dedication to rewarding bad behavior isn’t limited to domestic n’er-do-wells.   If robbing widows and orphans earns a bailout for Wall Street, then the indiscriminate firing of rockets into  Israeli towns and villages ought to rate at least $900 million for Hamas.

The Clinton Traitor List

Now that the campaigning is over, it’s payback time for all those that Bill and Hillary think have ‘wronged’ them. Or so argues the International Herald Tribune. It’s not good to be on a Clinton ‘list’ — any Clinton list.

There are a lot of Clinton lists; including the infamous list of those close to the Clintons who have died under mysterious circumstances; Clinton associates who ended up convicted felons; the infamous FOB [Friends of Bill] list (which included half the members of Chinese intelligence community) and other lesser-known enemies lists.

Then, there is the Clinton ‘Bimbo’ List. That list includes Clinton rape victim Juanita Broadrick, mistress Gennifer Flowers, innocent victim Paula Jones and starry-eyed intern Monica Lewinsky, (who had the double misfortune of entering the American lexicon as a euphemism for a sex act.

The newest list is the ‘traitor’s list’ — those former Clintonistas who instead supported Barack Obama. It’s a long list:

Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico; Representative James Clyburn of South Carolina, the House Democ ratic whip; Gregory Craig, Bill Clinton’s lawyer in his impeachment and trial; David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist; Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri; and several Kennedys.

The news media have already focused on some list entries, including the online gossip purveyor Matt Drudge (who had the nerve to show up at Hillary Clinton’s departure speech on Saturday), Todd Purdum of Vanity Fair (the author of a recent profile of Bill Clinton) and the cable network MSNBC (whose hosts Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are charter list members, Clinton associates said).

The lists are also reported to include lesser-known Obama-supporting members of Congress (for whom the Clintons campaigned), former ambassadors (appointed by Bill Clinton) or Clinton White House officials turned Obama advisers (like Anthony Lake, a former national security adviser, and Susan Rice, a former White House and State Department official)

In the bygone Clinton era, getting on one of the Clinton lists got you jailed, killed, socially destroyed, investigated by the FBI or audited by the IRS. Paula Jones, who never made more than minimum wage, was audited at least three times.

But now, (at least for now,) being on a Clinton list is like being on the KGB’s list. The KGB might be gone, but still, you can’t help but look over your shoulder. You just never know. . .

The Spoiler

Representative Ron Paul of Texas is still a candidate for the GOP nomination, having refused to drop out of the race, and is still recording a substantial vote against John McCain in primary elections.

The former Air Force flight surgeon has served Texas 14th District since 1976, having run once for president in 1988 as a Libertarian candidate, while maintaining his membership in the Republican Party.

Dr. Paul’s support base is small, but vocal and utterly dedicated to their man. Last December, he raised more than six million dollars in a twenty-four hour period, in what became the largest one-day fund-raiser in US political history. Read the rest of this entry »

Primaries Will Reveal Pastor-Gate Damage to Obama

Voters in today’s Democratic primaries in Indiana and North Carolina will offer the first real evidence of whether Barack Obama’s campaign has been damaged by the latest controversy surrounding his former pastor.

Since the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s racist rants at the NAACP and the National Press Club, Obama’s poll numbers have taken a sharp dip — today’s primaries will show if the damage is real or imagined. Before his pastor suggested that Obama might be tainted with the “Wright Stuff” (sorry. I couldn’t resist) Obama was leading in North Carolina by more than twenty points. He goes into this race hoping to pull off a simple victory.

After being neck-and-neck in Indiana polls, Clinton has opened a roughly 5-percentage-point lead. Here’s the make-or-break scenario. If Clinton loses in both states, then she’ll have little choice but to withdraw. If Obama wins both of them, she will have no chance of arguing that she won the popular vote — even counting Florida and Michigan.

But if she wins both states, then the chances of this going all the way to the convention are virtually certain. Clinton will try to steal the nomination by convincing the superdelegates that Obama can’t win. If she is successful, then neither one of them will be able to prevail in November.

“I’m No Quitter . . .”

Hillary’s Pennsylvania ‘victory’ (net gain: 10 delegates) has her campaign pumped and ready to go another few rounds.

“Some people counted me out and said to drop out, but the American people don’t quit, and they deserve a president who doesn’t quit either.”

This is one of those times when I find myself holding my nose to agree with her. America does deserve a president who won’t quit.

Especially when it comes to Iraq. . . (Ooops! Did I say that out loud?)

I got the following in this morning’s email.   It seemed appropriate to the situation . . .
