Thanks Jack for the quote "sounding like a wild-eyed fanatic railing against little kids in cute costumes having fun playing dress-up and gorging on tiny Hershey bars". I have gotten quite a chuckle out of it. Very good briefing as always.

My Parents are at my Sister's House in FL, - That Neighborhood is like a Kid's Paradise for Candy - All The Houses etc,. are real near each other -
I bet up in the Bronx - you've probably got about 300+ kids around there - Lots of Witnessing -
I should of put up some links for Halloween Tracts last week - It really is a good Evangelism type of thing you know -

It's only five PM PST here in Southern California. I live in a gated community, but we don't usually have a guard at the gate; tonight, we hired two. We have some good "Christian folk" in here, but that's not the reason for the guards for most people. It's because they don't like the town's people coming in to our little piece of heaven and looking for hand-outs. For me, it's this evil little "Holiday" that I refuse to acknowledge. I have pulled two of my cars into the garage and the rest of them I have moved down the street. I don't want anyone to think that we're home. It's almost dark so I need to shut down my computer because of the light it emits. Me and my family are hunkering down until this evilness is over. Lights are out and NOBODY IS HOME!

My son's neighborhood took this opportunity to have a covered dish block party. The children had a great time trick or treating and playing outside after dark. Costumes were mostly fairy tale or TV cartoon characters.. It had no connection to the original "hallowed eve". Some of the families gave out little tracts & bibles to the children along with the candy. We all had a great time.
I too once thought it was wrong to celebrate such a pagan holiday until I realized that most of our holidays are pagan based. These holidays are what one makes of them. I choose to use them for good and give God the glory and honor.

Amen Martha. I just had the sweetest pretty little girls come to our door. It truly makes you know what matters most in this world.
I hope all of you know me by now; I was just being facetious in that last post.
And yes, my kids went out in our neighborhood also dressed like “little kids in cute costumes having fun playing dress-up”
As always Jack, great OL!

One last thought before I hit the hay; C S Lewis's closest friends and family always knew him as "Jack". Irish born to boot
We’re going to meet him some day, pretty cool….

Jack, although our three children are now young adults, I remember when we chose to celebrate the Fall harvest instead of Halloween. We invited other young couples with young children out to our country home and shared a wonderful meal and games in a christian atmosphere.
As a side comment, I have noticed how popular the ghost programs are becoming on TV: TAPS, etc. The individuals on these programs are purposely seeking encounters with what you and I know as demonic entities who are more than happy to make themselves more available to the secular public! Although I attempted via e-mail to warn the key members of TAPS about the potential dangers of attempting to contact/interact with these "spirits" I never heard back from them. Does anyone have any thoughts on this popular phenomenon: ghost hunting?

Jana,
This place is all about the prince of this world, Satan. He owns this place, for now. Adam gave up the title deed for all humanity. That is what is taking place here on planet earth in a nutshell--Satan and his demons are in charge and ruckusing about--conjuring up ghostly, ghastly figures who scare, yet deceive people into believing they are harmless, ineffective beings having nothing to do with an Almighty Creator.
Like Jack just recently said, ending an OL with "it's all about Him"--not "them"
This is His gig, but that said, I know He loves us more than anyone of us is capable of loving anything, our children or even ourselves.
I ramble on, just my thoughts.
Dan
