How true about Miley Cyrus. My granddaughter loved to watch her but now I don't even want to speak her name. She has truly sold herself down.

Great article, Becky.

By the way, we quit watching or buying anything Miley some time ago.  So sad!  Her dad certainly is a questionable guide for her career.

Hi Becky,

You wrote: "This led me to ask, “What makes fame so appealing?"

I thought that your answer, hit the nail right on the head. Smile

=============================================================

"So, I thought, “Why does one need to fulfill the need of being adored by everyone?”  I carefully prayed about it, and then it came to me “because it goes back to the age-old lie of ‘ye shall be as gods’ that Satan told Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:5).”

Self-worship is the ancient trap that Satan keeps ensnaring us in over and over.  It has manifested itself differently through various societies over the course of history:  aspirations of ruling over others, power, wealth; but in the modern-day Western culture, the trap most often used is the desire to be famous."

==============================================================

It is sad, that so many fall for the lies of satan.  Thinking, that if they can only achieve their goal , of  fame and fortune, that peace and happiness will follow.  Then, when they think that they have gained what they wanted, it all suddenly changes.

I think of Elvis.  How after he became so famous, that he couldn't go anywhere.  He had to rent a movie theater, for just himself, because he would be hounded by his fans. He acheived so much in fame; but then turned to drugs.

Sadly too, many in Hollywood feel the need to seek that "fountain of youth", not being satisfied with their appearance.  Looking to all things "flesh".  And not the spirit.

Many "famous" people, also turn to other gods, (hoping to gain some peace) by delving in things, like Kaballa, Scientology, New Age, and what have you.

Mark 8: 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

All this, really brings home, the truth, that only Jesus can bring true peace.

Thanks again for your hard work, Becky.  Good topic, good commentary.

God Bless,
Shelley

Thanks, Ladies!  I really pray that Miley does not fall into that path and gets out before it's too late.

Shelley, you are so right; often times people get fed up with self-worship and do not turn to the True God, but other idols instead.

 Another great article Becky, and so true.  It all comes down to self and pride. Fame and fortune has ruined many lives. May I decrease so He can increase; it certainly is me, myself and I world we live in.

Hal had a great report last week on “A Man Called Stephen”. It’s up on his site now; 6/4/10.The CD set is available on Hal’s site as well. Our lives are just a vapor trail in the sky. There will not be rewards in Heaven for fame and fortune.
