Revelation  4 : 1
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Jack, 1 Corinthians 15, vs 51 & 52 Paul describes the rapture as revealing a mystery which means it was made known to him only. So how do you square that with your references to the rapture in Mathew and John? One of your new subscribers, Paul

When the New Testament refers to a 'mystery' it is referring to a doctrinal truth not previously revealed. Jesus certainly knew of the Rapture when He taught and so it is natural that He would refer to it.

The Gospel writers also undoubtedly knew of the Rapture by the time the various Gospel accounts were published some decades after the events they described.  It was left to Paul to deliver it to the Church as a fully revealed doctrine.

Since Jesus is God Incarnate, that He and His closest disciples would be conversant with the doctrine before Paul articulated it in an Epistle is probable to the point of certainty.  ~Jack

Da 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

It use to baffle me how some like Jack could get a handle on things that even the Apostles did not understand or the scribes who wrote the words.

I believe the rapture doctrine was not to be taught until the Holy Spirit revealed it to Paul.

Some things are only intended for the generation that the events apply to, that would be us,

Still a good question

The mystery was "we shall not all sleep" but that does not mean that I will be among those who are alive and remain which is something I am doubtful about.

I think Jack kelly offers one of the finest answers as to why the rapture doctrine had to remain hidden until after Jesus was crucified and rose again, since if satan had known God's plan which the rapture doctrine would reveal, he would have done all in his power to prevent the crucifiction.
