Jack, your true story about Tommy brought tears to my eyes. And, you are right, Canadiens, and every other country, they don't know what Americans' are really like. We treasure our liberties. It still bring tears to my eyes every time I say the Pledge and hear our National Anthem sung. And, since 9/11, everywhere we drive, we see the American flag flying, proudly. I pray for our Troops every single day. But, you are right, again, we don't really know what they've been through. And, are still going through. May God bless them all. And, may God continue to bless America......Becky

I am glad to hear the story of Tommy. It does my heart good to know there is at least a little hope for an America like that of the past.

Seems like so many of my generation (I am 31) not only have a complete lack of morals but also a complete lack of backbone.

Gone are the days of men with honor like my Granddad. He fought on numerous islands in the Pacific campaign of WWII.

When we hit Hiroshima he was sitting in a boat off the coast of Japan and he told me once he was certain at that point he only had a few weeks left to live, but he did his duty with honor none the less.

Granddad took pride in the fact that he was a disabled vet. However, He took greater pride in serving God and teaching my sisters, cousins and I about God and contributing to bringing us up in the way we should go.

Man, could we use more men like your Dad and my Granddad today Jack.

Great article!
