Revelation  4 : 1
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Very nicely put, Wendy!  Thanks.

Also interesting about Winston Churchill (and the second buglar).

God Bless,

I was at a funeral service once in high-school.  a freinds mom had died, the service was held in the gym.  she wasn't there but everyone else was.  and we cried and cried and i looked over and her son wasn't crying.  i never understood that.  perhaps he cried earlier or perhaps later but there, he sat stone faced.  maybe we were crying for him and that was enough for him.

we didn't stay friends.  he was popular and i really wasn't even though i hung out with everyone anyway.

i never cried at a funeral after that.  until this past week and even then only in spirit...  and you made me cry again Wendy.  It's fine though.  I know i'm not alone.  if this is what it means to be one in the Spirit then ... we are truly blessed.

Comments: It's unusual how someone I have never seen can seem like family, but I suppose that is how our Lord intended us to feel as the body of Christ.

I could hear Jack's words in my head quite often. When I waz in need of wisdom and guidance I would so often turn to those words along with scripture. The men I grew up with my brother and father have benn gone more than 15 years now. Now I have anotherman that Iook forward to seeing some day at that great family reunion. Thankyou Wendy for your words...Jay

Exactly what Pete said. I can't think of anyone that could of said what needed to be said besides you, Wendy. I happen to be a fan of the Matrix movies (particularly the first one) and at the end of the first movie, Neo says I'm not here to tell you how this ends, I'm here to tell you how it begins. And so it is, here we are at the post-Jack Kinsella Omega Letter. I can't tell you how this ends, but I know how it begins... We will all get through this together, including the Kinsella and OL families, and we'll go from there. I, personally, and still reeling a little and I will certainly help the Kinsella family cry and I look forward to our Omega Letter as we move forward.

Thanks to all-- actually I just spoke my heart, knowing that this community grieved together.

I feel immensely privileged to have been a part of it, and to have met Jack-- a truly incredible guy-- in person.

Thank you for this really wonderful article, Wendy.  Such a short time since Jack told us.  I never got to meet Jack, but I always admired him from the time I first saw him on the Hal Lindsey program.  Our Watchman went away and we all feel really sad. I agree with everyone that we will, with the Lord's help, get through this, and we will see Jack again.

Comments: It is UK Military procedure to follow 'The Last Post' with 'Reveille' at funerals, on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. Churchill chose 'Taps' because he had an American mother. This procedure is not novel but Biblical. It can be found in Genesis 1. There was evening and there was morning...
Death and resurrection are written into the universe. We are now approaching Easter and the Day of Resurrection. Spring is a reminder of the Resurrection. The seed that was sown in Autumn is now awaking to newness of life. We remember our salvation and look forward to the harvest and the return of the King (Jesus).
I never knew Jack except through his writings. I look forward to meeting him in the Presence of the Lord.

Perfectly put!

Warren, since the day my father died I have never been to his grave after that. It has to do with something I heard Charles Swindoll say on the radio years ago. He too, never went to revisit his mother's grave after she passed away and he was asked why. He said simply, "Because she is not there". She was a Believer and he went on to say that the shell that was her body is in the ground, but SHE was not there, he had no cause to mourn her passing because she was in Glory and he knew he would see her again. He was not without that hope. We too have that very same hope in Jesus with Jack and our loved ones in Christ who have gone before us. The very reason why I have never gone to my dad's gravesite since the day he was buried.

Thanks for such a beautiful tribute to Jack and the faithfulness of our Lord.  I still can hear the haunting sounds of taps from my brothers service, but it is a beginning, not an end.  Haven't been able to put my thoughts all into words, but will do so shortly--it has been difficult to put my arms around Jack's death--you expressed it so beautifully.  God bless you richly in your ministry in MS (I went to MC) and I hope you continue to share with us in the years ahead.  Love, Betsy

Comments: The Silence; Original TAPS

The conductor of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Holland .
The young lady, her trumpet , and her rendition of TAPS makes your hair stand on end.

Many of you may never have heard taps played in its entirety . For all of the men and women that have died for us to have the freedom we have in America . This is an opportunity you won't want to miss and I guarantee you'll never forget.

Amazingly beautiful . ..

Melissa Venema, age 13, is the trumpet soloist. She is also from Holland .

Here is Taps played in its entirety. The original version of Taps was called Last Post, and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801. It was rather lengthy and formal, as you will hear in this clip, so in 1862 it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named Taps.
Melissa Venema is playing it on a trumpet whereby the original was played on a bugle.

Watch at this site.
